Hi, I got hiv test from Dr. Lal path labs which was negative but out of obvious anxiety I failed to notice if the nurse took out a new needle. I think she used a vacutainer needle but she just took it out of a box. She did not open a new pack or something. Could I be exposed to hiv this way? Do I need testing over this exposure? A detailed answer would be highly appreciated.

Dear user. Thanks for the question. HIV spread through Contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes and HIV-infected blood or blood-contaminated body fluids. Deep, open-mouth kissing if both partners have sores or bleeding gums and blood from the HIV-positive partner gets into the bloodstream of the HIV-negative partner. HIV can not spread through saliva.
