lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. When some one is on adequate dose of Levothyroxine TSH is supposed to be around 3 to 4 mU/L, at which most of the symptoms are in check. Therefore, TSH 8 mU/L is definitely high, suggestive of improper control of hypothyroidism. In ladies thinking of conceiving, it is essential to maintain TSH < 2.5 mU/l. Plus through out the gestational period too it has to be maintained < 2.5 mU/l. Because strict control is necessary for development of brain, intelligence and growth of the fetus plus expected outcome of the pregnancy. So if you have any questions please come back. Thanks.
