I did sex with my fiance on 1st nov and she got pregnant. We went to gynecologist and did ultrasound to confirm the same. After confirmation, doctor provided tablets, mifepristone (1 tablet) and misoprostol (4 tablets). She took mifepristone on 29th Nov with water. Then she put 2 tablets of misoprostol in her vagina on 1st dec at 7 pm in evening and then other 2 at 11 pm. After 24 hours her menstrual periods starts and continue for next 5 days. Now today we went again for confirmation of abortion but in ultrasound we found that the baby (probably dead) is still there. Doctor suggest us that she will remove it while making her parts numb. But due to limitation to time, we denied that. Now I want to know if this is the only way? If this is the only way then how much time will that procedure take in hospital? Does she have to took any bed rest and for how many days/hours. And last one, till what time we can adopt this procedure because we want it tobe done after 25th Dec as we are leaving for holidays in next few days. Thanks in advance. Earliest reply awaited.

As this is a case of failed medical abortion you will have to go for d&c. The procedure takes about 20 minutes but patient will have to stay in the hospital for 4 hrs. Get it done as soon as possible, on delaying there chances of infection and she may suddenly start bleeding.
