My friend was on medication of minoxidil 5% twice a day and finasteride 1 mg/day for hair fall at 2nd grade after using this treatment for (6 months) he found visible results as regrowth of hair start but later for some reasons he tried to use minoxidil 10% twice a day with finasteride 1 mg/day after using minoxidil 10% he don't find much difference (use for 6 months) and want to switch back to minoxidil 5% will it be safe to switch back to minoxidil 10% to minoxidil 5%? thank you.

Hi, minoxidil at a dose of 5% is sufficient for maintenance. Increasing the dose to 10% does not yield more results and it can cause side effects like irritation of scalp and dryness. He can safely reduce the dose back to 5% but should not expect drastic results.
