My wife is pregnant (21 weeks) and her gynecologist has prescribed carni q which also contains astaxanthin 8 mg apart from other ingredients like each film coated tablet contains: ? l-carnitine usp ? 500 mg ? coenzyme q10 ? 50 mg ? astaxanthin ? 8 mg ? lycopene (as 5% powder) ? 2500 mcg ? elemental zinc (as zinc ascorbate) ? 5 mg she is also taking lrzin sachet ccm faa and thyrox 12.5 and lactifiber occasionally my question is that is astaxanthin safe in pregnancy.

At 21 weeks of gestation in an uncomplicated pregnancy only iron tablets, calcium and vitamin d tablets along with balanced and healthy diet is required. Regarding astaxanthin, we don't use it commonly in pregnancy.
