I have g6pd deficiency since childhood. Presently m married. And soon planning to conceive. Can I have any complications in future. How much & upto what extent? Is it true that you can never become a mother if you have g6pd? What are the chances or percentage of having a healthy child?

You can become a mother and may transmit g6pd to children. G6pd deficiency is an x-linked recessive disorder, with an inheritance pattern similar to that of hemophilia and color blindness: males usually manifest the abnormality and females are carriers. Females may be symptomatic if they are homozygous or if inactivation of their normal x chromosome occurs.
