I am asking for my mother she is 67 years old and diagnosed with diabetics last 3 months since then her weight is reduced, pain in legs from knee to toe can't sit down and stand up properly. She is taking metformin 1000 mg tablet and gabamax gold with pregabalin, methylcobalamin. Somewhere sugar levels are reduced from 250 to 150 by medicine but doctor is unable to tell that why she can't walk stretch and sit up down properly after having medicine 3 months of dosage sometimes we felt that she is not suffering from diabetics and the problem is something else. Kindly light up this issue waiting for your sumptuous response.

She is having diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Her medications are all right but you have to give a gap between metformin and b12 tablets atleast 12 hours as the b 12 absorption is hindered by metformin. B12 can also be taken as injection if the levels in blood are low which can be tested she requires regular physiotherapy also she also requires evaluation of her lower limbs regarding the circulation by doppler test (arterial and venous, nerve conduction studies to note the functioning of the nerves, and examination of the feet to rule out involvement which can happen in diabetes.

Metformin causes weight loss initially, so need not to worry. pain in legs can be because of osteoarthritis or osteoporosis, so you need to consult an orthopedic doctor.
