I am 39 years old. I have had my tubes tied in 03 and had a novasure in 15. I have still had periods every 27 to 28 days until this month, I am 8 or 9 days late. I feel like i'm pregnant, sore tender breast, nausea, aversion to foods. I took a hpt it came back negative. I am having cramps like i'm about to start but I haven't. Could I be pregnant? No you can't be pregnant as you have tubal ligation 16 years ago. It can be hormonal changes due to premenopausal phase which is very normal. If it happens again then you can go for usg screening. Hi, you have mentioned that you have undergone a tubal ligation (tying up of the fallopian tubes), also you have done novasure procedure where the endometrial lining is removed, after this you should be getting your periods regularly. Now, you have mentioned that your current menstrual cycle is delayed by 8 to 9 days. The periods that you get are regulated by the interactions between hormones from your brain and the ovaries. Fallopian tubes do not play a role in period cycle. Sometimes, the delay in period can be due to anovulation or anovulatory cycle. In some cases of tubal ligation there is a rapid decline in the progesterone and oestrogen levels post surgery. This could be due to the interference in the blood supply to the ovaries, caused during the surgery. In any case, I would suggest you get the following blood tests & test done to find out the exact cause, 1) cbc (for low hemoglobin) 2) serum t3, t4, tsh (thyroid) 3) serum prolactin 4) serum oestrogen 5) serum progesterone 6) serum lh, you can get these tests done, and also I would like to suggest that you get an obstetric sonography done, to rule out any pathological changes. Once the reports are ready, a consultation will be required.
