I want to get treatment for incompetent cervix. My wife has got miscarriage two times due to same problem. My gyanic has told that cervix cerclage is only solution for same, but this also failed last time. So I want to know whether there is any other treatment for same?

Hello. Just a query that other investigations for miscarriage like antiphospholipid syndrome and uterine anomalies have been done or not. Your health conditions especially blood sugar, thyroid and blood pressure should be optimised before pregnancy. As per your query if diagnosis of cervical incompetence is confirmed than you will require a circlage operation again at about 12 weeks of pregnancy. This time circlage stitch should be placed at a higher level (shirokdar may be done instead of macdonald) especially if the cervix is very short, scarred or if a old tear is present in the cervix. I will also suggest to use inj hydroxyprogesterone caproate (500) from 16 weeks of pregnancy at weekly intervals.
