Obsession is a repeating thought pattern that is not concrete; and compulsion is a repeating behavior pattern that is non-productive. As a combination they occupy the individual to the point of stagnating in their state for long durations of time. Sometimes, it can cripple the person from doing normal chores, and sometimes the OCD will place some importance to the frequency of an action to again slow down their function. There is a tendency to attribute some magical thinking to it too. All this boils down to the fact that underlying this behavior is some irrational fear. This may have been triggered off during a very vulnerable time in your life, especially during adolescence. The medication you are taking is for OCD but I do not know that you have mentioned the right dose. I think you need to reach out to a talk therapist too. S/He will help you look at the fear and deal with it appropriately. This will give you skills and techniques instead of merely depending on the action of medicine. And stop seeing so many psychiatrists. Trust one person and work with that person only. But you do need counseling along with medication.
