Hello -your son will benefit by psychological therapy like CBT to manage any cognitive distortions /difficult thought patterns that may be hampering his recovery - he is being prescribed risperidone (antipsychotic) and escitalopram (antidepressant which can help with low and anxiety). Check with his psychiatrist about his working diagnosis which will help with planning treatment and recovery. - escitalopram dose can be increased up to 10 mg daily if depression is an ongoing issue. It can affect his motivation - encourage your son to eat healthily. Go for regular walking/exercise. Meet with family and friends regularly - rehabilitation is usually a slow process and will do better with understanding and support.

Relying solely on the medication is futile. Kindly have him go for intense psychotherapy in tandem with the medicines he is taking. Depending on how long he has been in treatment, it is possible that his prognosis could be good due to age and a lot depends on his cooperation. On his own he is not likely to initiate or want to do anything right now. With the right pressure tactics he can be approached to seek therapeutic help to aid in the recovery.

Dear Tanveer, As you have correctly judged, please put him in a rehabilitation home for few months. Let him learn work habit there. Afterwards with their help and counselling of the employer, you can get some job for him nearby. It may be difficult initially. But it is worth. It may take about 10 months or more depending on his qualification.
