Having diabetes, taking lantus 20 units bedtime and glimepiride 3 mg glyciphage 1 mg voglibose 0.3 mg twice before food. My fasting is 100-110 but pp is 220-230 everyday. What to expect? It's from one year continued. M also having bp and thyroid from twenty years which are controlled.

Hi lybrate-user, I understand your concern. If your post meal sugars are not getting controlled since a year. There are two options. One is - there are few good medicines which have come recently which might help you to reduce your pp sugar. But you should consult your local endocrinologist who will evaluate if they are suitable for you or not. Second - as you are already on lantus. You can start insulin to help control pp sugars also, which will reduce the no. Of tablets that you need to take but at the expense of twice or thrice daily insulin. This is the usual course of management in a patient with type 2 diabetes for a long period of time. Either of the options will help you, and it has to be decided in association with your treating doctor, and which ever option helps you it is best to proceed with that as the more time you delay the more time body stays in high sugar environment and it is more damaging than multiple doses of injections to control that sugar.
