Child of age 3 years whose fortification dries up. He feels a lot of pain to discharge the sit. Doctor gave dulcolax tablet ,again they gave freelex plus syrup (url App.goo. Gl/f6qt4hs2a71mliqma) .he uses for 2 months but situation remains same .he doesn't discharge sit regularly but interval of usually 2-3 days. What should I to do.

Give plenty of fluids and high fibre diet. Use laxative syrup for atleast a month. Decrease the amount of milk and increase the dietary intake.

Hi lybrate-user, your child has constipation and requires laxatives like peg liquid for routine use and diet modification like to stop milk &its product. Give high fiber diet. Apply xylocaine jelly befire and after passing stool. Long term management requires.

Constipation may be due to large number if reasons in children. Mainly depends on diet and habits of children. Feed him food with high dietary fiber like green leafy vegetables, fruits (not juices), beans, nuts etc. Considering the child is 10-12 kgs, I suggest you use duphalac solution 10 ml at every night after food.
