My two month 15 days baby catch cold and cough since 7 days, there is a rattling sound in chest but no mucus coming out through nose. Due to lock down I am unable to visit a doctor. A local medicine shop suggested me to take kufril ls and maxtra drop. Is it ok? Any antibiotic needed?

Don't use those medicines. Use only saline nasal drops and observe for fast breathing more than 60 per minute. Do not worry if baby is breathing normally and feeding well. Noisy and vibratory chest could be bcoz of mucus in nose and / or throat. That will dissolve with salin drops.

Hi lybrate-user, 2 months old child usually do not get cough n cold unless there is cough cold in family members. Sometimes nasal block can cause cough like sound in chest. If baby is taking breast feeding well then no worries. You need to keep nose open. You can use nasal saline dtops to keep nose open. If doubt about cough then its better to consult pediatrician as hospitals are open even in lockdown.

Do not take maxtra without doctors advice. It may do more harm than good. Neonates can deteriorate very fast. Ideally show a pediatrician nearby. If not possible, consult online. But take good not random advice.
