My eight months old male baby having loose motions since nine days, specially when he is feeding. He is also taking some prescribed medicine like as zedott, enterogermina, zinconia sry. But still there is no relief. Please guide.

I hope frequency has gone down than how it was in the beginning. Babies lose ability to digest sugars and milk which contribute to amount and frequency of loose motions. Stop milk and milk products long with all sweet food substances like biscuits completely from diet. Instead you can use lactose free milk formula. Syp. Zincinia should be continued for total of 14 days.

Is the baby passing a small amount of stool soon after feeds? If yes, there is nothing to be worried about. This is normal as the intestines become very active soon after feeding leading to a small amount of stool passage. Keep an eye on the urine output. Decreased urine output, decreased feeding and activity, lethargy or blood in stools are red flag signs. Give small amount of ors throughout the day in sips. Continue enterogermina for 5 days in total and zinc syrup for 14 days in total. Avoid cow milk or milk based products for 2 weeks. Give rice based meals. Non milk formulas also are available. Formulas to be given in proper dilution doses will be dependent on weight of the baby.

If baby is stable, do not worry. If urine output is good. Baby should improve in one or 2 days or else do stool test and consult back.

Stop whatever type of milk you r giving and switch to diarrhea specific milk powder named as isomyl .dilution method is 60 ma water + 1 scoop powder .as n when required or demanded .rest all medications are fine.
