I have had ring worm since the age of 17, I first got patches all over my body and also had a fungal nail infection after treating my body, my nail disintegrated and I had to take terbinafine for it for around 3 months till it grew back completely healthy, I have never had any problems again with my nails or body however I keep getting ringworm patches on my fingers around every 6 months, I am a clean freak and have read every thing about ringworm and i?m 100% sure that I am not reinfecting myself by accident as I wash and sanitise everything from bedding to clothes to surfaces. No one else in my family has had it all these years since I am very careful and hygienic. I have been suffering from these reoccurring attacks now for 3 years despite the tablet I am prescribed. Why does it keep coming back and what other treatments can I consider? I am fed up and at this point I even read about laser to kill fungal. Please help me!

Personal hygiene, humid surroundings, contact and reinfection are some important issues of persistent fungal skin infection. Your dedicated efforts are to be appreciated. Though no specialist in this field, my advise is to continue this with patience. I think a dermatologist in a teaching hospital can identify and confirm the causative fungal parasite, single or multiple. There are different topical and systemic medications effective for each individulal type.
