I have thyroid problem which aroused at the time of my pregnancy so my Dr. suggested me thyronorm 50 mg. Now my baby is 4 months old and I am gaining too much weight so I did a thyroid test again now my tsh level is 0.01 which is very low. What medicine should I take?

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Your current TSH level is very low, which means that the dosage of Levothyroxine being taken is high. That needs to be reduced by 12.5 mcg to 37.5 mcg. That strength tablets are available. No other medication is required. As regards adding weight, that means either your diet is a bit high and physical activity (exercise) is too low. In hypothyroidism weight gain does occur, but now that is not the situation. Dear lybrate-user, if your thyroid problem was there only during pregnancy then you can stop the thyronorm and recheck tsh after 3 months and I guess it would normalize. For your weight issue you need to go on a low carbohydrate high protein diet and exercise for an hour per day and reduce weight by 1 kg per month to reach a weight of about 52-53 kg which would be your ideal body weight.
