I was prescribed bupropion of 300 mg as I was feeling sad and had no interest to do any work and was always fatigued and sleeping, can I still use bupropion with consumption of caffeine in the form of coffee or caffeine tablets of 200 to 220 mg, is it safe or shud I decrease the dose of bupropion, these tablets are psychiatrist prescribed by the way and along with bupropion, I was being given lamotrigine 200 mg as well all prescribed by psychiatrist, any drug interactions you might know off with coffee or caffeine consumption and shud I alter any medication? As such, I am an mbbs graduate as well but not a specialist as such! thank u, your suggestion will be helpful.

Dear Dr. lybrate-user, like bupropion, caffeine is also an antidepressant. Both have synergistic action. It is better that you take your routine coffee - not caffeine tablets. Caffeine addiction is very difficult to treat. Withdrawal symptoms are also difficult to manage with your work as doctor. Bupropion does not cause dependence and easier to withdraw. The psychiatrist has prescribed lamotrigine, probably as a mood stabiliser or to boost the action of bupropion. Don't self diagnose or self treat. Google only for your disorder not for tablets. Please follow the psychiatrist's instruction.
