Hi breast milk has abundant benefits over any formula milk. Generally as the baby feeds on the breast, the hormones in our body system tunes to secrete milk automatically. Your baby is only 10 days old and needs more time for proper latching and you too need time to acclimatize. All you need is confidence and counselling to assure you that you are on the right track. Still if you feel that you do not have enough milk, I would suggest you to have some galactogogues (garlic, pepper) and more milk and water.

No. Unless absolutely necessary, don't start formula feed so early in life. Here are few signs of adequate milk 1. Urine passing per day >10 times/day 2. Passing golden coloured stool 3. Baby feeding for around 10-15 mins every session & sleeps well for 2-3 hrs thereafter. 4. Weight gain. This will start after the baby has regained his birth weight (10-14 days). After day 14, baby normally gains around 25-30 gm/day (it's not a fixed value) most of the time, inadequate milk is due to improper feeding technique. We call it "latching" make sure latching is correct & take help if necessary.
