Hi, I have a minor dns and nasal polyps. I am using otrivin daily (4-5 times a day) for 4 years now. Whenever I do a course of montek lc my nose congestion reduces (i still have to take otrivin twice). Is there any way to get rid of the congestion. Please advise. Thank you in advance.

Hi there, please don't use the otrivin this long. It causes dependence and will not relieve your symptoms. Reduce the drops by putting them once daily for two three days then replace it with saline nasal drops. Also start steroidal nasal spray twice daily instead of otrivin drops. Do you have headache also or sneezing. What are your main symptoms.

Using otrivin for nasal polyps is the worst thing you could do. Moreover you have done it daily for the past 4 years. Read about rebound congestion due to nasal decngestants and rhinitis medicamentosa. You need a complete sino-nasal evaluation with an allergy testing.
