My wife had a first episode of psychosis during a very stressful period and was taken to a psychiatrist her symptoms improved within one day of treatment and was diagnosed as of not having any mental illness and prescribed risperidone for 10 days .as she was also found pregnant when test were done she refused to take medications and changed hospital. No further symptoms appeared but just after delivery which was a c-section baby had some complications and was admitted to nicu. She stopped sleeping and delusions started to appear they consulted a psychiatrist oleanz was prescribed symptoms went away and we went home. But she stopped the medication again and not sleeping cause the baby have to be fed symptoms. symptoms reappeared and was taken to a psychiatrist again they gave a diagnosis as bipolar type 1 and put oleanz 5 mg and symptoms went away. She has been asymptomatic for 1 years and on oleanz 2.5 now. Just want to know if the diagnosis is correct or should we change doctor?
