My scalp produces flakes which are not affected by anti dandruff shampoos. Is using betasalic lotion on my scalp safe for removing them? For how long should I use it? Does it causes hair loss? What should I use to get rid of these flake patches which keep on increasing day by day?

It all depends what antidandruff shampoos you are using. Most anti dandruff shampoos contain ketoconazole. For any antidandruff shampoo to act, it should be applied, kept for 3-5 mins and then washed. We usually wash it immediately. That's why it doesn't act properly. Use antidandruff shampoo for your scalp and any other shampoo that suits you for the length of your hair. Otherwise, antidandruff shampoos will make your hair frizzy. Also, avoid oil application in your hair as it would increase propensity to have dandruff. Flakes in hair can be due to other causes as well. You must do a consult along with your pictures for proper diagnosis and treatment. Betasaliic lotion doesn't cause hairloss, can be used if you have seborrheic dermatitis/ dandruff. However will have to see your scalp/ need to know proper history before commenting on any medicated products. Regards.
