My son had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis when he was just 3 years. Now he is 18. Following jra he suffered uveitis also. Steroids applied then. Cataract developed. 8 years back, cataract surgery done in one eye. 3 months back, uveitis became active, started methotrexate 10 mg once a week. He is having severe floaters problem now in different colours and shapes creating blurred vision. Reading mobile and laptops are very different due to this. Otherwise, his eyes are alright as per eye specialist. Kindly advise medicine for uveitis. Need homeopathic medicine.

Hello. It is unfortunate to be a patient of uveitis. Uveitis is a very notorious eye problem since ages. Despite years and years of research, cure for uveitis can not be invented. It can just be controlled and suppressed with medications when active, otherwise I am sorry to say this but there is no cure and freedom for the disease. Jra is associated with a chronic form of uveitis. Certain questions I would like to know about before suggesting the next step to you. Is is currently on any steroid or cycloplegic drops. Is methotrexate still being given? What is the status of the unoperated eye - vision wise! is there any significant and sudden drop of vision in any of the eye lately? The coloured floaters are solidified (degenerated) vitreous. If he is unable to see even a laptop screen then infection may have got flared up - in the form of intermediate uveitis or some retinal problem. Is the blurring specifically present in a certain gaze? Or is occurring randomly? Also he might be needing to get operated for the other eye cataract too since it was steroid induced cataract and usually it is bilateral. Treating jra uveitis is very complex. One ends with relapse the moment steroids are stopped and so they have to be continued. If methotrexate is still showing no results then there might be need of starting biological drugs. Immunosuppression is the only treatment option for jra as it treats the root problem. Looking for anything else or another options will just overburden him and affect the quality of this life.
