Hello doctor, I have read somewhere that an ultra sound and mri are ineffective for tonsils and vocal cords because of air trapped around these parts, is it true? My ent suggested to get a ct scan of neck to look at any abnormalities in the tonsils and vocal cords. Which imaging test will give an accurate diagnosis or help in the diagnosis? Ultrasound, mri or ct scan? Thanks.

See we can't usg ok. We order imaging scan for to look out how much extent the infection has gone ,if you going for surgery for that, we can see which extent we need to remove the tonsil and and what mode of treatment we need to give to you. So go with ct scan.

Ct scan and mri will be more effective. Ultrasonography is more effective in fluid filled cavities. As your ent surgeon has advised it please go for ct scan right now.
