Parametrium involvement is part of stage iib which may have been mentioned in the report. Whether there is recurrence can be found out through pet ct scan. The five year survival rate for stage 2 cervical cancer is upto 60% with treatment. Continue the follow up.

Dear lybrate-user jyothy, as per your description, its advanced stage cancer cervix. Cervical cancer can not be completely removed from body. We are giving time or delaying its recurrence by treating cancer. Some people have recurrence early and some have very late and some don't have throughout their life. She don't have recurrence at present as her pet report is normal.

Even in stage IIa, radical hysterectomy removal of the whole uterus, both ovaries ,pelvic lymph node dissection are done. Medial 1/3 of the parametrium on either side, and upper 1/3 of the vagina is also removed. Brachy- therapy followed by external radiotherapy after 5-6 weeks. If the parametrium shows involvement, it is stage IIb .After full surgical treatment and radiotherapy, parametrial invasion is to be evaluated by the Gynecologist. Further treatment if contemplated, is to be planned by the radiotherapist.
