Hi doctor. 17th day follicular study msf in both ovaries et - 5.8 mm is there any chances of getting my ovulation after this. I have pco problem irregular periods. My doctor suggested me to take duphaston tab. I need suggestion pls guide me. Is there any chances of ovulating after this?

Hi lybrate-user, you need to understand that pcod is not a disease as such, it’s a lifestyle disorder which can be cured with proper nutritious diet and regular exercise. 17th day follicular study if not showing any grown follicles with thin et of 5.8 mm, you are unlikely to ovulate by yourself. You need a proper ovulation induction and management of the et accordingly. You can talk to your gynaecologist about this and can start the same from the next cycle.

Hello by the 17th day we need to see a dominant follicle in either ovary. This usually does not happen in pcos as there is no follicular development and ovulation on its own. Next time go for ovulation induction with tablets with follicular monitoring.

Regularly menstruating women ovulates usually on day 14. Endometrium must be 7-8 mm thick and also three layered. If endometrium is favourable and folliclar size is 18-20 mm, you can rupture it to produce ovulation.
