Hello Mr. lybrate-user, on the basis of query asked you are having gastrooesophageal reflux disorder (gerd) means the spill over ascent of some acidic content from stomach. The most important factor behind the cause that is either your stomach is producing too much acid mainly due to stress, spicy oily food ,too large gaps between the meals or the other cause could be your stomach is normal but your poor dietary habits and behaviour like lying down just after food, taking large amount of meal at one go, less time gap between dinner and sleep. This condition luckily can very well be treated mainly by improving food behaviours like * taking small well spaced meals * avoid oily ,spicy food *take balanced diet including vegetables and food.* don't take large amount of water with meals ,this dilutes the acidity of our stomach and affect digestion.* do brisk walk after food especially at night for around 250 metres.*avoid lying down just after food.* prefer sleeping on left side.*use small cushion while sleeping so that your head is raised to 1.5-2 inches from bed .this will decrease the reflux (the throat discomfort and sour taste you described) * decrease intake of acidic food empty stomach.* reduce the level of stress .properly chew the food well. All this measures will definitely help you out with your problem. If you would like to have further discussion then you can very well consult me through Lybrate app only thank you. Wishing you good health. Wishing you good health.
