I am 21 year old boy. I have been eating junk and spicy food for last 2 years very often. This was causing acidity. Pantocid (1-0-1) had lot of effect earlier but now does’t work. My doctor prescribed neksium 20 (1-0-1) which worked for some time but my junk food habits ruined its effect. I have now given up on junk food but acidity is not settling. Tremendous acidity, gas and burning sensation is there. I feel I need some medication to calm the acid down. Please advice.

You need life style medication firstly. Exercise avoid spicy and oily foods have small frequent meals, instead of having in bulk at a time drink water after 40 minutes of having food. Don't drink water along with food don't go to bed immediately after having a meal, you can atleast after 1 hour. Keep your head end elevated while lying down and you can sleep in right lateral position for fast gastric emptying detailed history and evaluation is needed. Hi lybrate-user, it's good that you are now aware of what caused the gastritis and given up on junk food. Apart from the medication which your doctor prescribed, you should also be aware of how often you eat. Instead of eating three full meals a day, eat in small divided quantities, every 2-3 hourly. Avoid spicy and sour food. If it doesn't reduce, I would advice a private consultation for further advice.
