Sir I confirmed it's a anal fissure at posterior 12 o'clock place and doctor preferred me high fibre diet and gave me metronidazole gel to apply there for two weeks also suggested me for surgery if i, m not cured so please advise me home treatment.

Hi lybrate-user, you can apply the ointment, but anorelief or fidonal are more effective than you are using currently. U apply the ointment, take hot sitz bath and take stool laxatives. It will heal. Only thing that bothers in anal fissure is that it comes back repeatedly if you do not control constipation. When repeated attacks happen, medicines not working then surgery remains the only solution for a permeant cure.

Anal fissure is due to injury of the mucosal lining of anal canal by hard stool caused due to constipation. Take fiber rich diet, drink plenty of water, avoid spicy food and follow the treatment of your treating doctor. Anal fissure can be treated by non surgical approach by graded kshar karma which has better efficacy and is less painful.
