When dpoae is present in ear canal, it indicates that there is normal hearing but when it's absent it indicates that there is hearing loss. Dpoae is measured by stimulating ear with two simultaneous tones. When it's absent, it may be sign of problem like hearing loss, wax in ears, infection in middle ear, malformed middle ear. This indicates more testing to be done to rule out cause. Teoae presence indicates normal cochlear functioning. Teoae can, t be detected in sensory hearing loss or middle ear abnormalities. These are diagonostoc tools in screening ear problems. It needs proper study of reports along with clinical examination to tell prognosis of case.
