Hello doctor. I am mother of a 4 year old child. My daughter is suffering from cold but there are no such symptoms of tonsillitis. Does tonsillitis come on suddenly?

The occurance of tonsillitis is usually sudden and there are no pre-defined symptoms for it. Once you are infected with tonsils, you may feel sore or scratchy throat, pain and difficulty in swallowing. In case of acute tonsils, symptoms lasts for 2 to 4 days. In few patients, however, symptoms may last for 2 weeks. Another type is recurrent tonsillitis that comes several times a year in a patient.
