Hello doctor! I am 24-year-old and I face excessive bleeding during my menstrual periods. Using pads becomes difficult sometimes as I have to change it more often. I also want to share that I am a virgin. I have heard about menstrual cups. But I am confused because it gets inserted inside the vagina. Is it safe to use a menstrual cup if I am a virgin?

Yes, there are no health related problems in using a menstrual cup even if you are a virgin. The only problem while using a menstrual cup is that your hymen will stretch so it becomes your personal choice to use it or not. Meanwhile, there are other physical activities as well where your hymen stretches such as cycling, yoga, horse riding, etc. So it is up to you whether you use it or not but there are no other complications in using it even if you are a virgin.
