Hello , probably your father is suffering from congenital hiatus hernia. If surgery is not required (as told by the endoscopist) medical therapy is sufficient to take of symptoms. But I want to know what is the exact problem that your father is suffering which brought him to the doctor? If it is cough, then he needs a detailed evaluation at his age. Regarding use of pantoprazole or omeprzole or any of these proton pump inhibitors, they are more or less quite similar in actions. So do not worry about the composition of the medicine. Hope this was helpful.
