My mother (aged 48+) is feeling sever dizziness while waking up from a lying position and standing up from a sitting position. She feels as if everything is rotating around her for some time (about 1-2 mins). Kindly help me, why this is happening and whom to consult. Which department doctor can see this issue.

Hello! this is orthostatic hypotension. She has to get up slowly while changing the position to avoid this. Happens when bp suddenly drops and will again get back to normal with in minutes. You don't have to treat this condition. It's a general phenomenon and a common issue among varied age groups. All you can do when changing, sleeping position to standing up; 1. Turn to one side on bed. 2. Wait for a while. 3. Sit on bed slowly with support. 4. Wait for a while. 5. Then stand up and walk. This way you can stop the symptoms from happening. If you still want to see a doctor, you can consult a general physician.
