Which dry fruits should we eat in pregnancy.
Ask Free Question
Hi, let me clear the misconception about dry fruits. As dry fruits are good sources of vitamins, minerals as well as high in fibre (nuts with brown coats), which can ease constipation, a common complaint in pregnancy. They also contains iron and protein which prevents iron-deficiency anemia. But take them in moderation, a handful of nuts and dried fruit a day is enough (almonds, dates, dried figs, cashew nuts, dried apricots, walnuts, pistachio nuts, peanuts, raisins) as they are high in fat content. In summers, green almonds would be a good option or else just soak the brown almonds overnight and consume them in the morning. Personal habits such as smoking, alcohol, caffeine, using certain medications and street drugs can negatively and irreversibly affect the development of the baby, which happens in the early stages of pregnancy. Foods to be avoided in normal pregnancy: raw or partly cooked eggs, raw or undercooked meat, caffeine, liver, cold cured meats, vitamin/fish oil supplements, papaya.
