I am suffering from hives since last 3 months. I went to skin doctor and after all the test doctor informed me that due to high sugar it is possible to get hives. I am undergoing treatment for diabetes and now both my fasting and post lunch sugar is normal, but still sometimes I get hives. Please suggest.

Urticaria as it is known for a long period of 3 months or so requires finding the causative agent or associated issue. Diabetes may be one of the important causes. Once detected requires strict control as confirmed by blood sugar tests which has to be maintained as close as normal levels most of the time. Thus requiring monitoring as advised by treating physician. Another test is hba1c normally done once in 3 months. Apart from this some skin disorders like fungus scabies etc are causes easily diagnosed by skin specialists. Since allergy to some agent may be cause and agent can be "anything under the sun including the sun" - you have to find out yourself and make a list of possibilities by your own experience like drugs, eatables, contacts, chemicals etc. And once suspected check by avoiding it. Sometimes it is of very long duration. Then you should consult physician - internal medicine for further long term management with medications.
