My mother aged 45 had a problem of heavy period bleeding after which she consulted a gynae and she gave her primolut n medicine which controlled the condition. Few days back consulted another gynaecologist. She wrote some tests such as pelvic ultrasound, pap smear, endometrial biopsy .the results of the tests came clear. Only ultrasound shown bulky uterus with small fibroids and level of prolactin serum high .after which she suggested some vitamin medicines and said to continue primolut n only from 5th day of month. She stopped taking primolut. And after 2-3 days again the problem of abdomen pain and bleeding is happening. Please help and suggest some solution immediately.

Hi, In some females at the time of menopause, there will be increased bleeding like this due to hormonal imbalance. Initially non hormonal tablets to control bleeding will be tried. If it does not work then hormones will be started. All these things after investigation to rule out conditions that may cause bleeding. You have written everything normal except prolactin. Have you tested for thyroid because both hormones go hand in hand and around menopause thyroid may go low and this also can cause increased bleeding. Primolut should not be taken haphazardly. She should take thrice a day till bleeding stops ,then twice a day for a week and once a day. Rest of the time total 21 days. Otherwise it itself can cause irregular bleeding. If you need some more clarifications please post all the reports In my private consultation.
