Dear lybrate-user ji, The winter is just around the corner, and seasonal flu, cough and cold are making rounds. While it may seem like a tiny problem, a simple cold can get the worst out of you; stuffy nose, blocked ears and coughs can drive you crazy. Try ‘hot’ foods- If you are sure that your ear congestion is due to cold, you can try eating ‘hot’ foods like garlic, onions, radish, jalapeno, pepper, chillies etc to clear the congestion. These foods tend to soften the mucus that’s blocking the ear, and thereby reduce congestion. Drinking warm soups, broths and a cup of tea can help too!

You developed upper respiratory tract infection affecting throat, nose and ears, probably due to virus. Infection may turn into bacterial if properly not treated. It is better to consult nearby ENT specialist if pain in ear ,sore throat increase.

You have got throat congestion due to infection and it has blocked your Eustachian tube on right side. This tube connects your throat with the middle ear for balancing pressure and its blocking affects the ear function causing pain and altered hearing. For clearing your nose do not blow it forcefully otherwise your ear drum might get perforated. Do hot saline gargles.
