Hi, I am 30 year old male with a L5 disk slip 3 months back. Weight 85 kg. I have been experiencing continuous numbness in my right thigh. Please suggest if I need to go disc hernia surgery.

L5 disc slip usually causes numbness in the foot. 90% of disc herniations can be treated with medicine, local injections in the back and physiotherapy. Surgery is required only in few selected patients. Even if surgery is required it can be done through keyhole procedures instead of big destructive operation that is being done by many surgeons at present. If you wish, I can give you a more definitive opinion if you can send photograph of the MRI scan and video consult.
