He completed his M.B.B.S. from Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical College and got his MD in Psychiatry (with Gold Medal) from the reputed King George's Medical University and got a DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in Psychiatry. He was awarded Completion of Specialist Training (CST) (Adult Psychiatry) by the Specialist Training Authority in London in 2003.
He has an active profile with the Indian Psychiatric Society, Geriatric Society of India, Indian Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Association of Physicians India and the Indian Medical Association. He currently works with Bring Back Your Smile and has been a Consultant Psychiatrist for 6 years at NHS England. His experience helps him to simplify the often misunderstood or stigmatised area of healthcare i.e. mental health. His work in mental health is diverse and he specialises with both child and geriatric mental health. Instead of using injection treatment and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) he relies on psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
He is also the founding president of MUSKURAHAT, and AJMG Foundation a non-governmental health organisation which conducts mental health camps in rural Uttar Pradesh and also spreads awareness about mental health and the role of psychiatry.
