Dr. (Prof.)Vivekanand Jha, M.B.B.S., M.D., D.M., Ph.D. has joined Okhla, New Delhi located Fortis Kidney and Urology Institute as Director Nephrology, Academics and Research. He also holds the prestigious F.R.C.P, F.R.C.P. & F.A.M.S. degrees. Completed MBBS from Patna Dr. (Prof.) Vivekanand Jha completed his M.B.B.S. from Patna Medical College, in Patna (Bihar) in 1978 – 1984. He did M.D., D.M.( Medicine and Nephrology) from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh in 1986 – 1990. He did a basic science research Fellowship from the Harvard University and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston. Dr Jha was also elected as a Fellow of the Royal college of Physicians (London), Royal college of Physicians (Edinburgh) and the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India). Was Director in Medicine Department, University of Oxford Previously, Dr. (Prof.) Vivekanand Jha worked as a professor of Nephrology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh. He worked as a Director, Academics and Research with Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. Dr. Vivekanand Jha was also engaged as an Executive Director with George Institute for Global Health India. Associated to different national and international bodies Dr. (Prof.)Vivekanand Jha is associated with various national and international organizations. Currently, he holds the post of the Secretary, Indian Society of Nephrology, Councilor of International Society of Nephrology, Councilor of the Transplantation Society, Executive Committee member of the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology and Asian Forum of Chronic Kidney Disease Initiative, member of several Committees of International Society of Nephrology, Transplantation Society and International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis. He is a past member of Board of Directors of the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes and a member of KDIGO Guideline Development groups for management of kidney transplant recipients and patients with glomerulonephritis, member of several task forces and expert committees of the Department of Biotechnology and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Review panel of international funding organisations. He has over 220 publications Dr. (Prof.)Vivekanand Jha is the Deputy Editor of the Indian Journal of Nephrology. Associate Editor of the American Journal of Kidney Diseases and American Journal of Transplantation, Editor of the Cochrane Renal Group and Advisory Boards of several other journal.
