About Diarrhoea Diet
Diet plan for diarrhoea includes is a low fibre content food which helps to fight against diarrhoea or loose motion. A proper diet for diarrhoea is said to have fibre content up to 10 grams a day. Low fibre content foods are tolerated during diarrhoea because it won’t allow the bowel to stimulate and it will be easier to digest.
Diarrhoea affected people should not be starved because it makes the condition even worse. Supplements of vitamins and minerals should be done for those people. Diarrhea can cause dehydration, which requires the patient to drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration.
Diet for diarrhoea should have the following:
- Should have a large amount of fluids in different forms to avoid dehydration.
- All cereal foods, including wheat flours, suji, rice flakes should be included, whereas whole milk, fried foods, whole pulses, etc which are the source of high fibre should be avoided.
- Skimmed milk with cereal, buttermilk, paneer and curd are allowed to eat during diarrhoea.
- Bananas, fruit juices without pulp, canned fruits are suggested to be included in the diet.
- Vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, radish and spinaches are not recommended while diarrhoea is affected.
- Sucrose and lactose free foods are recommended.
- Soya beans or milk protein hydrolysate is also recommended.

Do's And Dont's While Following Diet Plan for Diarrhoea
Do's:
- Re-hydrate. Drink plenty of fluids - Coconut water, pure water
- Have banana, rice cereals, toast
- Eat small, frequent meals. Eating heavy meals after diarrhea puts stress on your digestive system, making it hard for your recovering stomach to process foods properly.
- Be careful with what you eat or drink.
