Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Symptoms and treatment of OCD

I welcome all Lybrate viewers. Mera naam Ashish kumar Mittal hai. Main Columbia Asia Hospital, Gurgaon mein Consultant Psychiatrist hu. Aaj hum Obessive Compulsive Disorder ya OCD ki bimaari ke baare mein discussion karege.

Is bimaari ke pramukh symptoms hai baar bar safai karna ya safai ka vehem hona. Is bimaari mein log apne ghar ko baar baar saaf karte hai, zada kapde saaf karte hai, bartan dhule hone ke baawajood usko saaf kar dete hai. Ya fir log touch karne ke baad baar baar hath dhote hai. Market se aayege toh unko lagega ke koi infection unke shareer pe lag gaya hai aur wo nahane chale jayege jisme wo kaafi samay lete hai.

Is bimaari mein mareezon ko dekha gaya hai ke galat galat thoughts aate hai. Wo bhagwaan ke liye ho sakte hai ya apne family members ke liye bhi ho sakte hai. Toh is bimaari ke pramukh symptom hai doubt, fear ya negative thoughts aana. Is bimaari ke wajah se log repetition karte rehte hai, ek hi kaam ko karte rehte hai jisse wo thak jaate hai aur apni full efficiency se kaam nahi kar paate, jisse unke kaam mein delay ho jaata hai, ghar ke kaam mein delay, koi job kar raha hai toh job mein unko kaafi diqqat aati hai halaaki ye log kaafi samajhdar hote hai lekin bimaari ke wajah se dhang se kaam nahi kar paate hai, naahi uspe dhyan laga paate hai. Is bimaari ke wajah se wo dusro pe gussa bhi karne lag jaate hai kyunki unki ek tendency bann jaati hai perfect tareeke se kaam karne ki.

Is bimaari ke hote huye bhi logo ko pata hai ke diqqat hai unke sath aur baar baar repeat kar rahe hai, par wo ye sochte hai ki ye unki aadat hai. Wo nahi soch paate kaafi baar ke jaankari ke abhaav mein ke ye ek bimaari bhi so sakti hai. Dusre log bhi sochte hai ke ye iski aadat hai ya ye vehmi aadmi hai aur wo is bimaari ke bare mein naa jagrut hona chahte hai aur naa lena chahte hai. Lekin aapko dhyan rakhna hoga ke ye ek bimaari hai. Ye ek OCD ki bimaari hai jiski jaankari aajkal internet se bhi avail kar sakte hai. Agar aapko ye symptoms hai toh aap apne nearbypsychiatrist se mil sakte hai aur usse consult kar sakte hai. Treatment ke roop mein isme medical treatment and counseling ke roop mein CPT ya ERP kiya jaata hai jo ki har bade sheher mein available hai.

Agar aapko OCD se related koi bhi samasya hai toh aap mujhe gurgaon mein sampark kar sakte hai ya Lybrate pe consult kar sakte hai.

Stress & Anxiety
Stress & Anxiety

Hello, everybody. I am Dr Ashish Kumar Mittal and I am M.D. Psychiatrist in Gurgaon. Today I am here for stress, anxiety and its management.

What are the treatments for this situation?

So we can do something in our lifestyle so that symptoms can reduce.

  • We need to see our sleep whether we are sleeping properly or not. Take 6-8 hours proper sleep. Fix your sleeping and wake up time.
  • Switch off the television, internet 1 hour before sleeping so that your mind can be at rest before sleeping.
  • Don't use excessive caffeine. Caffeine is present in tea, coffee, cold drink and chocolate. So not more than 2 cups of tea should be taken in a day. Because more tea can lead to lack of sleeping, more anxiety

In students, we can notice such things. To stay awake they consume more amount of caffeine through coffee or tea. And because of more Caffeine, they increase the anxiety in themselves and reduce concentration and disturb their sleep. So we need to watch it over.

Also, we can start exercises like cardio exercises or yoga which are very good to reduce the excessive anxiety. So these are some lifestyle changes. We should fix our meal timing. Engage yourself in some sports activity.

Many people think that ayurvedic and homoeopathic medicines bring a cure. I don't deny managing these things. But if you are not getting benefit from ayurvedic and homoeopathic medicines, then switch to Allopathic medicine also. It brings relief within 1 or 2 months. We have many patients who improved to great extent.

The third barrier in the treatment is Stigma. People think that if we are going to a psychiatrist, then we are mental. Actually, it is not so. The person who develop stress and anxiety problem, are smarter than another person. That is why they are developing anxiety problem, they are anticipating more, developing more, they are more bothered.

So when you will see the good doctor, you will see the number of persons is coming for the treatment. Then you will realise that you are not alone. The other people are seeking for the treatment. So don't worry about the stigma, worry about your health and seek the treatment. And the treatments are easily available if you search a good doctor.

If you want to consult me, you can consult me through Lybrate.

Thank you.

Lifestyle Changes to Manage Stress
Lifestyle Changes to Manage Stress

Hello everybody. I am Dr Ashish Kumar mittaal. I am MD psychiatrist and I am practising in Gurgaon

Today we are here to know the management of stress and anxiety and its treatment.

The first question is what is stress?

Stress is that how our body and mind reacts to the life situations. So it may be Eustress or Distress.

Sometimes it helps us to move forward in our life. For example, during exams, we develop stress but due to that stress, our attention, concentration increases and we are able to finish things fast, we can learn fast and we can perform well. So this kind of positive stress is called Eustress.

But when the stress level increases, suppose, you have a capability of 10 and you have given work of 13 magnitudes, then your performance will go down and you will not be able to work or concentrate properly. So, this excessive stress is called Distress.

We can do something with our lifestyle to help reduce stress.

  • Switch off television and the internet at least one hour before sleep so that your mind is at rest before sleep.
  • Don’t use excessive caffeine. Caffeine is there in tea, coffee, cold drinks and chocolates.
  • Do not take more than two cup of tea. If you are taking more cups of tea there will be more anxiety, lack of sleep which will further increase your anxiety.
  • In student we see such a thing. In exam they remain awake, take excessive caffeine in the form of tea and coffee develop excessive anxiety which reduces their concentration and disturb their sleep. So we need to watch it over.
  • We need to take some exercises like cardiac exercises in reducing stress and anxiety, some yoga technique we can follow.
  • Fix your meal timings and engage in some sports activities.
  • Many people think ayurvedic and homoeopathic treatment bring a cure. So I am not denying their role in managing these things but if you are not getting benefit then switch to allopathic treatment. There is no harm in that and it brings great relief within one or two months. We have many patients who have improved like anything.

The third barrier in the treatment is stigma. People think if we are going to the psychiatrist for treatment we are mad. Actually you are not. The person who develops stress and anxiety problems actually are smarter than other person and that is why they have developed anxiety problem, that is why they are worrying and anticipating more. Whenever you will go to the treatment you will see with good doctors huge number of persons are coming for treatment. So you can rely you are not alone. Others too are seeking treatment. But what happens is nobody tells each other that we are seeking treatment. Don’t worry about stigma. Worry about your health and seek the treatment. Treatment is easily available. If you will search you will get good doctors nearby.

If you want to consult me you can consult me through lybrate.
