Timothy grass is a hay crop native of Europe and Asia. This grass produces grass pollen which is a very common allergen. The pollen is very small and airborne; therefore, a person can inhale it even without realizing it. This allergy is mostly common during summers; however, it cannot be ignored during other seasons. The allergic reactions can be mild or severe, depending on the individual’s immune system. The common symptoms of this allergy include; cough, runny nose, asthma, fever, itchy nose, sore throat, watery eyes, puffed eyes, itchy eyes, and difficulty in breathing.

No special preparations are required for this test. You don’t have to fast before the test. You must let your doctor know about your medical history and all the medications that you consume regularly.

The test confirms if you are allergic to timothy grass. Based on the results, your doctor will be able to prescribe medications to keep your allergies in control.

This test is not painful. This test involves a blood test or a skin test. For the blood test, your doctor will draw your blood sample and send it to the laboratory for further diagnosis. A skin test is of three types; scratch test, intradermal, and patch test. In a skin test, the allergen is introduced into your skin to determine the reactions.
