Anti HSV Antobodies IgG Test

Anti HSV Antobodies IgG Test

The Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is an enveloped, DNA containing virus morphologically similar to the other members of the herpesviridae family. There are two naturally occurring variants of HSV(HSV 1 and HSV 2) both types of virus cause infections in humans which range in severity from cold sores to encephalitis. The diagnosis of HSV infections is routinely made based on clinical findings and supported by laboratory testing which includes Direct fluorescent antibody (DFA), Immunoblot (IgG), Culture and Typing (ELVIS®), Culture Without Typing, Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) IgM and Type-Specific IgG, DNA Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA).

Immunoblot (IgG) also known as Western Blot is a blood test. IgG testing (Western Blot or Immunoblot) is the best option for accurately diagnosing herpes simplex virus 1 and herpes simplex virus 2. It is a qualitative assay that uses an immunoblot format for the differentiation of herpes types 1 and 2 IgG antibodies. IgG antibodies are the most abundant type of antibody and they are found in all body fluids and protect against bacterial and viral infections. Western Blot testing doesn’t require a lot of preparation. It is a bit more complicated than a simple blood test. This test accurate 99 percent of the time because once infected, antibodies are always present, whether you are having an active outbreak or not, so this test can be done at anytime.

The Western Blot test is a highly sensitive method to detect a specific protein even in very low quantity. It is used in clinical diagnosis and it enables quantifying a gene product (gene expression studies) The IgG antibody assay detects IgG-class antibodies to type-specific HSV glycoprotein G (gG), and may allow for the differentiation of infection caused by HSV types 1 and 2. The presence of IgG-class antibodies to HSV types 1 or 2 indicates previous exposure, and does not necessarily indicate that HSV is the causative agent of an acute illness.

1. Extract and purify protein from cells
2. Separated by SDS-PAGE (Sodium dodecyl sulphate-PolyAcrylamide Gel Electrophoresis)
3. Transfer proteins from gel to nitrocellulose paper
4. Blocking nonspecific antibody sites on the nitrocellulose paper with bovine serum albumin (BSA) or milk powder
5. Probing electro blotted proteins with primary antibody
6. Washing away non specifically bound primary antibody
7. Detecting bound antibody by horseradish peroxidase-anti-Ig conjugate or formation of a diaminobenzidine (DAB) precipitate, radiolabelling or use of fluorescently labelled secondary antibody.
8. Autoradiography or photographing or fluorescence detection.

Hi. AMH of 2- 4 ng/ ml is optimum .However, this alone is not sufficient to arrive at a conclusion regarding the fertility status. We always co relate it with an ultrasound. Moreover. It is the egg number that can be commented upon and there is no test in the lab for egg quality except to see the fertilisation rate. Therefore. Kindly get ultrasound done too.

In Allopathy, anti-histaminics or immunosuppressant medicines like steroids are used which only give temporary relief, with the problem returning once the medicine is stopped. On the other hand, during Homeopathy treatment of allergy is cured by strengthening the immune system and the symptoms subside on their own. At the same time, it needs to be understood that this is purely natural allergy treatment. No steroids or anti allergic medicines are used. The immunity is strengthened by Homeopathy instead of being suppressed as happens with allopathic treatment. You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects

Cervical Spondylosis (Arthritis of the Neck) - Know Its Treatment!!

Cervical spondylosis is fast becoming the bane of modern life. An age-related wear and tear problem affecting the spinal discs in your neck, cervical spondylosis is increasingly affecting the young because of the use of cell phones, laptops and the like.

Cervical spondylosis is a general term used to define shrinkage of discs in between vertebrae in the neck region. Along with disc degeneration, bony projections also form in the area and are called bone spurs.
Other causes of cervical spondylosis are dehydrated discs. Discs are thick, pad-like cushions in between vertebrae that act as shock absorbers. They are made of a gel- like material that can dry over time. This causes the spinal vertebrae to rub together causing pain. The discs also crack which allows the internal gel-like material to spill out and impinge on spinal nerves causing symptoms.

There is a narrowing of the space required by the spinal cord and nerves that emanate in the upper spine to go to various parts of the body. Pinching of these nerves can cause alarming symptoms like:

  1. Numbness and weakness in your arms, hands, legs and feet
  2. Lack of coordination and difficulty in walking
  3. Loss of bladder or bowel movement
  4. Stiffness and pain in neck

Treatment and management
Usually, cervical spondylosis doesn’t cause any symptoms. But when you start experiencing pain, stiffness and weakness of muscles, it’s best to go to a doctor who will diagnose the problem and then treat it.
Treatment for cervical spondylosis depends on the severity of your symptoms. Its goal is to get rid of pain, allow you to carry on your daily activities and prevent any permanent damage to your spinal cord and nerves.

Medicines

  1. Anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed to reduce pain and inflammation. Example Ibuprofen.
  2. Corticosteroids are oral medications to get rid of the severe pain. If these don’t work, your doctor can suggest steroid injections.
  3. Muscle relaxants medicines relax the muscles in the upper part of the spine and help in curing neck pain and stiffness
  4. Anti-seizure medications are also prescribed to dull the pain of damaged nerves in the spine. These include epilepsy medications, such as gabapentin and pregabalin.

Physiotherapy

  1. Non surgical treatments are usually very effective in treating cervical spondylosis and surgery is usually not required. Physiotherapy is a bulwark for patients as it helps manage the condition very well.
  2. Neck exercises that help stretch and strengthen muscles in your neck and shoulders can help manage debilitating symptoms of cervical spondylosis.
  3. Few patients also benefit from traction, which can help provide more space for nerve roots within the spine.

Surgery

  1. Surgery is the last resort for treating cervical spondylosis.
  2. It is suggested when non-surgical treatments fail and the pain and neurological signs such as weakness in your arms or legs get worse.
  3. It is done to create more room for your spinal cord and nerve roots.

Cervical spondylosis surgery typically involves removing:

  1. Herniated disk
  2. Bone spurs
  3. Part of a vertebra.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Physiotherapist.

Eye Health - Exercises To Improve It!

There are many common measures people take to improve their eyesight or to improve their vision, including wearing glasses, lenses, and many more. Here are some effective exercises, which can prove to be highly beneficial to improve your eye health:

1. Stretching
This is the most common and also one of the easiest to do. It requires you to just look up, hold for two seconds, look down, hold for two seconds and then repeat this procedure for each corner of your eye, which means top-left, top-right, bottom-left and bottom-right corners.

2. Flexing
This is simply rotating your eyes in circles. Roll your eyes in the clockwise direction for one minute and then roll your eyes in the anticlockwise direction for one minute.

3. Focus switching
This particular eye exercise is probably the most useful one to improve eye health. In this eye exercise, you have to hold something at a reading distance and cover the other eye. You then have to find something that is at least twenty feet away and trace its shape with one eye closed. With one eye closed, trace more shapes, which are twenty feet away.

4. Palming
This exercise is also very simple to perform. All you have to do is cover your eyes with your palms. Once you have done this, just wait and see that there are no bright flashes of light. If you see that there is a bright flash of light, just wait till they go. This is used primarily to distress the eyes.

5. Deep blinking
This is also an incredibly useful exercise for distance vision. What you have to do is to place some large letters are at a fair distance and then sit on a chair. You have to then close your eyes and tighten all your muscles for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds are over, you have to open your eyes and then you have to see the letters for a second or two. The more number of times you do this, the more clearly you will be able to see the letters after reopening your eyes. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ophthalmologist.

Radiofrequency (RF): Skin Tightening & Skin Rejuvenation!

Radiofrequency (RF): Skin Tightening & Skin Rejuvenation!

As the aging population in our society continues to grow, new technologies and procedures promising a more youthful appearance are continuously sought. The utilization of radiofrequency technology remains a novel method for the treatment of many aesthetic and medical dermatological indications. Innovative applications are constantly identified, expanding treatment options for various patient concerns including aging of the hands, cellulite, non-invasive lipolysis, and postpartum skin laxity. Non-invasive treatments are ideal for busy patients seeking minimal recovery time and so called lunch-time procedures. Furthermore, new developments in treatment devices enhance efficacy while decreasing patient discomfort.

What is RF treatment?

Based on the scientific term Radiofrequency (RF), radiofrequency treatment is a non-surgical means of “reshaping” the body and the face from beneath the superficial layer of the skin. This method uses sophisticated devices specifically designed to treat men and women’s most common skin aging problems like wrinkles, excess fatty tissues, or cellulite. The method utilizes radiofrequency waves which is, basically, heat energy meant for tissue remodelling and production of elastin and new collagen. Unlike invasive procedures which primarily affect the most superficial layers of the skin, the resulting heat of the Radiofrequency treatment works mainly on the deepest layer of the skin, the dermis, without affecting the upper layers that are above it such as the epidermis.

As heat is a stimulation that promotes contraction of the underlying tissues, especially at the dermis level, soft tissues found within that area of the body compress, realign, and even produce new collagen, a process that normally takes many months to complete. With healthy new collagen present from the deepest level of the skin, exposing such soft tissues to further Radiofrequency waves help sculpt and tighten those tissues into a more youthful and elastic surface.

Benefits of RF treatment

By now, you may already have an idea on how an RF treatment works with regards to aging problems common to both men and women. But how exactly does anyone experiencing treatment via RF benefits from it? Following are the benefits of RF treatment.

  1. Diminishes or Removes Cellulite
  2. Reduction of Body Fats
  3. Tightening of the Skin/Anti-aging
  4. Post-operative Liposuction Smoothing
  5. Contour Reshaping

Risks of RF treatment

While the discovery of the Radiofrequency treatment is one of the best things to happen for the skincare industry, it is not perfect. In fact, the treatment itself has its own risks which may be experienced by some clients who undergo this type of medical procedure.

Common side effects of RF treatment include:

  1. Redness on the skin
  2. Mild swelling
  3. Oversensitivity of treated area
  4. Sinking in of treated area
  5. Blistering/bruising

Who can NOT avail RF for skin tightening?

Basically, anyone can avail of this form of treatment with a few exceptions such as pregnant or breast-feeding mothers and those with serious heart diseases or patients with pacemakers.

Why should you Choose RF skin rejuvenation

If you are looking for a safe, painless and a non-surgical form of treatment for skin tightening, then Radiofrequency is the way to go. The procedure does not involve surgery, repositioning or cutting. In Radiofrequency treatment, the skin tightens due to the introduction of radio frequency energy into the skin. The process generates moderate electrical currents that cause a contraction of the collagen and reshape it, which results in the tightening of the skin. This treatment effectively tightens the dermis as well as the epidermis, while ensuring that your skin remains undamaged. Experience the benefits of RF skin rejuvenation at Clinic Cosmoderma. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cosmetic Physician.
