Dr Sandeep Kumar is an Ex Professor of Surgery, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow and Founder Director. Also Dr Sandeep Kumar was Founder / Director of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) Bhopal. He is an alumni of University of Allahabad with 1st position in MBBS and Masters in Surgery from MLN Medical College. Thereafter, did FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and PhD from the University of Cardiff, Wales. He was awarded Rockefeller INCLEN fellowship in 1990 and with this he did a 2nd Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Newcastle, Australia.He worked extensively at the famous Cardiff Breast Clinic. He is the past editor, secretary and president of the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology and chairman of research grants committee of Indiaclen and scientific advisory and research grant peer review group member of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). He has conducted over 10 major research projects in cancer biology and epidemiology. He has been the team leader in a collaborative research with the University of Minnesota. He has also been a visiting fellow in Freiberg, Germany, Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute, New York and University of New South Wales, Australia.To illustrate some of the important works done by Prof Sandeep Kumar are epidemiological studies in primary and secondary prevention of oral cancer, a major survey of tobacco habit around Lucknow using an intention to quit tobacco model. Recently he undertook operational research in trauma care and has published 4 papers in this area. Several of his research papers in the field of biology of benign and malignant breast disease are widely quoted. He has published over 100 research papers and contributed chapters in several text books. He is a prolific speaker and has been invited to speak in several universities and colleges in India and abroad.
