Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. With a hba1c% of 10%, it is clear that your diabetes is not at all in good control. Considering your age, it is necessary to maintain hba1c% < 6.5%, fbg < 100 mg & pp 150 to 160 mg. This control will help in preventing or postponing the long term complications associated with t2 dm. Quite often when control goes hay wire, using of insulin helps to regain the control and after 4 to 6 months one may be able to maintain a good cont...more

It's generic version of lantus. Dose conversion is 1 unit lantus equals 1 unit basalog.
Some patients do develop high sugars after changing from lantus to basalog.
So adjust dose after changing insulin based on your fasting sugars.

There is no" maximum dose" for insulin. In fact, it is one of the very few drugs that does not have a maximum dose. In other words, as long as you don't have hypoglycemia or other complications (eg: severe kidney disease) and your blood sugars are controlled round the clock, insulin is safe at any dose.

Mr. lybrate-user, There is brand by name "Mixtard 30/70 InnoLet 3 ml injection. Usually concerned company persons do visit and explain how to use the Insulin Pens. So while buying it from the local chemist ask him to send the particular company representative to demonstrate the usage. The cartridges are 3 ml while vial is bigger. So please get all the details before switching over. Pens are definitely much easier to use. Thanks.

You can add alpha glucosidase inhibitor to control PP after consulting your doctor. You can also switch to basal plus tnsulin therapy consulting your physician/ diabetologist/ endocrinologist by adding short acting insulin before largest meal. Yes you can switch to wockhardt or lupin brand for economic reason otherwise they are not superior what you are already taking.
