YOu seem to have migraines and Betacap Plus 10 Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Propranolol and Flunarizine which prevent migraine. Propranolol is a beta blocker and Flunarizine is a calcium channel blocker. They work by stabilizing the reactive nerve cells and increasing the threshold to migraine activation. They also inhibit cortical spreading depression (CSD- electric waves that move across the brain and cause pain and inflammation).

In the first place, it should not have been continued even for 6 months. It should have been replaced by other medicine preferably from ssri group which are more safe in long term and don't carry risk of dependence. Anyway, now first you should take 2 different pills containing propranolol and clonazepam. Propranolol is commonly available in the name of capsule betacap tr / tab. Inderal la which you need to take 40 mg once daily after breakfast. Other you need to get is tab clonazepam 0.25 mg wh...more

Dear lybrate-user.
You are young and you can learn a non medical method of managing your anxiety. Anxiety is not a life long problem. Anxiety is needed at certain stages of your life. Tablets have their own problems.

Has there been further mris done? What has your doctor told you? Additionally are you taking up counseling to manage your behaviour, low concentration, confidence etc? Both line of treatment should run in parallel for overall results. Psychiatric meds do have side effects but they should not be stopped without consultation with your Dr. If you are finding improvements and your Dr. can confirm that then gradually the dosage can be reduced and subsequently stopped. But it is very important to go f...more

Normally the mainstay of anxiety treatment is medication such as SSRI class of drugs which are highly effective for anxiety. Beta blockers such as betacap, or benzodizepines are only given temporarily to control the physical symptoms of anxiety till the SSRI medicine starts to take effect.

Also dose used for anxiety is usually between 20 to 40. 60mg is not used.

Believe at age above 60, even systolic blood pressure till 150 is acceptable. Once in a week bp monitoring, mild reduction in salt intake (after monitoring electrolytes balance), and then periodic review with your doctor should help. If you have been using propranolol fro some time, then it is clinical judgement, but pls don't suddenly start it at 80 mg/day, as it can cause sudden fall in blood pressure.

Betacap is known to cause erectile dysfunction in few patients, in view of your heart rate it was probably prescribes to you, but you can consult your treating doctor for change in medication. Also the cause of your high BP and fast heart rate should be thoroughly investigated, please consult a cardiologist regarding the same.
