Dear lybrateuser,
-It is better to avoid alcohol if you do not take, as after starting it becomes a habit & the intake also keeps increasing
-it adds only empty calories to the diet which can increase weight along with the snacks which one has, also increases body & blood fat which is harmful for the body .

Dear Lybrate User,
Congratulations that you have taken the first step. It is the most difficult to come out of denial mode. You need to take counselling including your diet, life style changes and if required medicine also.
For many patients have tried deaddiction regime of brahmakumaris with good results.
You may also do that. All the best.
