About Cataspa 50 mg/20 mg Tablet
An antispasmodic, Cataspa Tablet treats a certain type of intestinal problem called irritable bowel syndrome. It reduces the symptoms of intestinal and stomach cramping. This medicine works by slowing down the natural movements of the gut. It relaxes the stomach and intestine muscles.
This medication must not be used in children younger than 6 months old and in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Before using this tablet, inform your doctor if you have a history of:
- glaucoma
- enlarged prostate
- urination problems
- high blood pressure
- Nervous system problems
- myasthenia gravis, liver, heart, thyroid, intestinal or kidney problems.
Cataspa Tablet can be taken with or without food as instructed by your doctor, usually 4 times a day. The dosage is based on your age, medical condition, and response to the medicine. Your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose.
This medication is a drug that treats smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract which occurs due to irritable bowel syndrome. It blocks the acetylcholine receptors present on the smooth muscles thereby causing the muscles to relax.
This tablet also controls excessive secretion from not only the stomach but also from bronchial, tracheal, and pharyngeal muscles. It also inhibits an enzyme named Cyclooxygenase which is responsible for the formation of prostaglandin. It is a major contributor to the process of inflammation and pain sensation in the body.
